Ethos involves bolstering the credibility or trust of the writer. There are two kinds of ethos....
1. Intrinsic Ethos is the credibility the writer obtains within his/her argument. This may include a written statement of the writers expertise or a perceived fairness in considering alternative viewpoints.
2. Extrinsic Ethos is the credibility that a writer brings to their argument without explicitly stating it. It may include an expertise in the subject matter and their experiences.
The more credible or trustworthy the writer appears the stronger his/her argument will be.
